In 2002 Kalman Sporn ran for a seat on the New York State Assembly; to represent the 69th District which includes the Upper West Side, Morningside Heights and parts of Harlem. Although, Mr. Sporn garnered more votes than any other Republican candidate in 25 years in this overwhelmingly Democratic stronghold; he lost the election to Daniel O’ Donnell, the Democratic candidate and brother of Talk Show host Rosie O’ Donnell.
